PROGRAM ON PLASMA-BASED ULTRAFINE PARTICLE SYNTHESIS

Nanomaterials exhibit many unique properties and have large industrial potential. A new and novel technique, Liquid Thermal Spray Synthesis (LTSS) Process, has been developed to synthesize nanomaterials.

In the LTSS process, a precursor solution is atomized and the droplets are injected into the high temperature spray jet. Flame-droplet interaction results in the synthesis of nanoparticles which are collected either as powder on an electrostatic precipitator or as deposit over a substrate.
