Post-Doctoral Opportunity

The Center for Thermal Spray Research, (CTSR), an NSF sponsored
MRSEC Center, is seeking a post-doctoral research associate to carry
out a wide range of studies on thermal spray coatings. Some of these
programs will be done in collaboration with scientists at NIST and
ANL-APS. The research will be carried out in a group setting
comprised of post-docs, engineers and faculty.

Stony Brook University is located on Long Island, 50 miles from New
York City. As such, we have the benefits of what the City offers, and
the pleasure of living and working in a bucolic environment.
Brookhaven National Laboratory (containing the National Synchrotron
Light Source) is located 30 minutes to the East of the Stony Brook
campus.

We are especially seeking an individual who has experience or a
strong interest in small-angle x-ray and neutron scattering to
determine phase content and to characterize process-induced pore
structures. Emphasis at present is focused on interface
characterization within thick films. We intend to examine interfaces
using high-resolution TEM and the special scattering methodologies
mentioned above.

The successful candidate would be expected to work as a team member,
while carrying out research on his/her specific topic without
excessive supervision. This is an opportunity to grow in an exciting
environment. It would be useful to examine the group's web site:
