Schematic of relaxed surface planes.
d_12, d_23, etc... denote the interlayer distances of the surface planes.
These distances can be different from the bulk spacing (d_bulk).
Delta x_1 and Delta x_2 indicate thhe possible parallel relaxation of the planes, while maintaining the same in-plane periodicity.
