All graduate students in the Department of Materials Science are assigned an Academic
Advisor during their first semester in the program. That advisor is responsible for meeting with the
student at regular intervals and reporting back to the Graduate Program Committee on the student's
progress.
This advisor is not to be confused with the research advisor under whose direction a graduate student completes a thesis. Although in many cases the research and academic advisor will be the same faculty member. The Graduate Program Director acts as your Academic Advisor until another advisor is assigned. Any questions that you have with the program or the university should be discussed with your Academic Advisor. |
