How do a I pay for the usage of the SEM, TEM, or XRD?

Yes, there is a nominal fee to use the equipment.
It only pays for the service contracts, upkeep, and
minor supplies. There are no capital expenses or
salaries.
I can tell you the rates for a given year and piece of equipment,
since it varies from year to year.
Usage fees are charged by filling out a Materials Service Requisition.
You will require a valid account number an signature. The signed form goes to me.

Yep! But a few simple rules:
- Bring your own supplies.
- Take away your supplies.
- Leave the room clean.
- Keep an eye on the N2 tank.
- Keep an eye on the vacuum pump.
- Use the log book.
- Pay attention to the lights.

Here's the mix:
Developer:
Kodak D19, 1packet/gal, mix at 52C, stir
Stop Bath:
Kodak indicator stop bath, 16ml/l, 1-gal, stir
Stop:
1 percent acetic acid
Fixer:
follow instructions on package.
Fixer:
Kodak Rapid Fixer, stir, 60C
1.9l H2O + 946ml A + 104ml B, mix, then add more H2O ---> 1 gal

For 2 sec exp, 4 min devel, 1 min stop, 4+min fix, 20+ water, and dry
If they come out cloudly, then fix for 1/2 hour and wash again and dry

- Q: How do I buy something?
- A: Follow this procedure:
1) Determine a distributer
2) Go to the departmental office
3) Ask for a "Purchase Order Requisition".
(You will probably want a "pink" one).
4) Complete the form, including:
a) date
b) grant number
c) distributers name, address, phone, fax, etc...
d) department name
e) item name, part#, quantity, cost, etc....
f) local shipping information (usually a faculty name)
f.1) include room where stuff will reside
g) sign and date (usually a faculty signature)
5) Keep a copy of the requisition
6) Mail the rest of it to Grants Management (Research Services)
7) Wait for delivery
