Spring 1999 SEMESTER - ACADEMIC CALENDAR
                   (revised 10-20-98)
Jan. 5-19 - Final two weeks of advance registration for the Spring
1999 semester. Undergraduate students may now register for up to
19 credits by telephone and in person based on class status. 

Jan. 20, Wed. - Classes begin. Late registration begins with a $30
late fee assessed.

Jan. 22, Fri. - Senior Citizen Auditor Program registration.
(Telephone 632-9493 for information.)

Jan. 26, Tues. - Last day to drop a course without tuition
liability. Undergraduates must have "Permission of Instructor" to
add a course in the second week of classes (Wednesday, January 27
- Tuesday, February 2) 

Feb. 2, Tues. - End of late registration period for undergraduates
and SPD/GSP students. Last day for undergraduates and SPD/GSP
students to add a course. Last day for ALL undergraduate and
graduate students to drop a course without a "W" (withdrawal)
being recorded. Last day for undergraduate students to change
status to or from full-time/part-time. Tuition and fee liability
remains applicable; Last day of 30% tuition liability.

Feb. 3, Wed. - Last day for May through August degree candidates
to file for graduation in order to be included in the May
commencement ceremony to be held Friday, May 14. Candidates should
file at the following locations: West Campus undergraduates at the
Registrar's Office in the Administration Building, Graduate
Students at the Graduate School, and SPD students at the SPD
Office.

Feb. 9, Tues. - End of late registration period and last day to
add or withdraw from a course for G1-G5 graduate students. SPD and
GSP graduate students may continue to withdraw. ALL transactions
that were handled by the telephone registration system for SPD
students must now be done either in-person or by telephoning the
Registrar's Office.

Mar. 15, Mon. - Last day for removal of Incomplete grades from the
fall semester. Last day for undergraduates to withdraw from the
University and still be eligible to return next semester. Last day
for SPD/GSP students to withdraw from one or all courses. 

Mar. 29 - Apr. 3 - SPRING RECESS (Monday through Saturday)

Apr. 5, Mon. Classes resume

Apr. 7 - 13 - Prime Time (intensive academic advising for
undergraduates) begins and continues through April 13 (Wed -
Tuesday) Telephone Registration will no longer be available for
Spring 1999 transactions. Withdrawals and PN/C's can be processed
in-person at the Registrar's Office.

Apr. 14, Wed. - Telephone registration begins for current USB
students for the fall and summer session. (Schedules will be
available prior to registration.) See Registration Schedule or

Apr. 21, Wed. - Last day for undergraduates to withdraw from a
course or change a course to or from Pass/No Credit. Full-time
students must maintain Full-time status (minimum of 12 credits).
(Cannot be done by the automated telephone system).

Apr. 23, Fri. - Current students may register In-Person for fall
and summer sessions according to the In-Person Registration
Schedule.

Apr. 29, Thur. - Telephone registration begins for new students,
visiting students, and returning students. 

May. 1, Sat. - Last day of classes for courses held on Saturdays.

May. 4, Tues. - Last day of classes for Monday - Friday course
offerings. Last day to withdraw from the University, (SPD/GSP
students must have SPD approval: see March 15 above.)

May. 5, Wed. - READING DAYS (no classes in session)

May. 6, Thur. - Final examinations begin. Saturday courses will
hold their finals on Saturday, May 8th during the regular class
time.

May. 12 - Final examinations end. Spring semester ends. Last day
for departments to submit completion statements for May master's
and doctoral degree candidates. 

May. 13, Thur. - Doctoral Student Graduation; School of Medicine
Graduation; and Baccalaureate Honors Program Graduation. 

May. 14, Fri. - Commencement Day.

Summer: Term I - May 24 - July 2, '99; Term II: July 6 - August
13, '99 (Summer Calendar included in this publication)
